💡 The Gold Duan Ni Care & Seasoning Guide

Bringing out the warm, smooth, jade-like luster of Gold Duan Ni requires just a little more patience compared to Red (Hong Ni) or Purple (Zi Ni) clays:

One Pot, One Tea Type: Because Gold Duan Ni is highly porous and absorbent, dedicate your teapot to a single category of tea (e.g., exclusively for White Tea or exclusively for Raw Pu-erh) to prevent flavors from crossing.

Season First with Light Teas: When using a brand-new pot, stick exclusively to light-colored liquors (like white tea) for the first few months. This allows the clay body to slowly and evenly absorb the light tea oils, creating a subtle, protective "patina" (Bao Jiang) on the surface. Once this natural barrier is established, the teapot gains a beautiful rich texture and becomes much more resilient to external staining.

Never Leave Tea Overnight: After every tea session, discard the leaves immediately and rinse both the interior and exterior thoroughly with warm water. Wipe it dry with a clean cotton cloth, and leave the lid off in a well-ventilated area to air dry naturally.
